Shady Canyon Trail & Bike Path Closure

Sections of Shady Canyon Trail will be closed Monday, April 27, through Friday, May 8, while work occurs to create a smoother, safer trail.

The paved trail will undergo a 2-inch grind and asphalt overlay to address cracking and improve the overall quality of the trail. While work is underway, both the paved and unpaved trails will be closed, and the closures will be in effect 24 hours a day. We appreciate your patience as we make these important upgrades.
The City has not announced any detour plans and Shady Canyon is a private road so the public are prohibited from using it as a detour.
Update:
April 27 to May 1 - Phase 1 is the portion of the trail between Bommer Canyon and the main gate at Sunnyhill, so the Shady Canyon Class II bike lanes on street are available as a detour. The connection from Sunnyhill is open all week and should be open the weekend of May 2nd & 3rd.

May 2 to 3: Both trail segments MAY be open over the weekend…

May 4 to 8 - Phase 2 is the portion between Shady Canyon gate and the double bridges. Not sure if the connector to Sunnyhill and Shady Canyon will be open or not to acsess the newly paved west side portion…
