Welcome
Welcome to BCI's Web site. The Bicycle Club of Irvine is a recreational
and social cycling club for men and women of all ages and skill levels.
Please come in, check out our rides and events,
read about our history,
becoming a member, and find out what's new at BCI.
You do not have to become a member before riding with us. Just come out, see if the club is a good fit for you,
and you can then become a member if you feel a connection. We are a very social club and think you will
enjoy the friendliness and opportunity to spend time with new-made friends.
We ask you to wear a helmet and when you arrive at the park, sign in on the Guest sign in sheet.
Route information is available to the left under your selected date.

Mon Feb 06, 2012 06:00 PM - Special Event night ride
Full Moon Ride. Riders must have adequate lighting. Ride starts at 6:00. An hour ride to the coffee stop 20 min break and hour ride back. Join other BCI Lunatics for another night time ride! This time we'll go down Harvard to the San Diego Creek bike trail, then turn east on the University Trail through Mason Regional Park, and follow the trail to Quail Hill for refreshments. We'll return by taking old Laguna Canyon Road to the San Diego Creek trail through Woodbridge, and return to Deerfield via Harvard.
This will be a no-drop fun ride at an easy pace. We'll leave Deerfield Park at 6:00pm, expect to be at Quail Hill Plaza around 7:00, and return by 8:30. Ride distance will total 20 miles. Moon rise on the 6th is at 4:35pm, and the easterly ride toward Quail Hill should make for good views of the moon. Optional dinner at Culver Plaza at the end of the ride for those interested.
The ride will be led by BCI member Bob McHenry, an experienced commuter and tour leader. Headlights and taillights are required to participate, and eye protection with clear lenses is strongly recommended. Questions about this ride: email to bob.mc@cox.net.
Sun Feb 12, 2012 09:00 AM - Special Event Mountain Bike Ride
Based on your responses, it sounds like we will have a group with fairly compatible riding skills. So, we will most likely not be doing the 'newbie' ride and opt for the intermediate route which is a bit more strenuous, but not dangerous. We can always change the route if requested.
The ride will be a 10-mile out-and-back mountain bike ride with about 1500’ of climbing. The course will be a lollipop loop on single and double-track trails. We will ride as a group. These trails are frequented by equestrians and other riders. Trail etiquette will be reviewed before we head out.
Mountain Bike Ride
You should have: Helmet, eye wear, spare tube, tire boot, tire levers, multi-tool, hand pump or C02 inflater, chain quick-link, water (at least 50 ounces), and your favorite snack (energy bar, energy gel, banana) or sports drink. BCI jerseys are encouraged. I will bring a camera to record the 'fun'.
Everyone will need to sign in and sign the club waiver, just like we do for any of the regular club rides. Please let me know if you will be bringing a friend. Guests are welcome.
I am really looking forward to riding with you all! Next ride: Blackstar Canyon to Sierra Peak!
Kind regards,Randy Profeta 949.863.1982, 949.525.6070 (cell)
