J.P. Ziegler will present "Urban Cycling: Fundamentally Unsafe or Fixable?: A History of American Transportation Infrastructure.”
J.P. Ziegler is a Civil Engineer with 5 years of experience working in alternative modes. He has a Bachelor's in Civil Engineering from Cal State Long Beach, and a Master's Degree in Transportation Engineering with a minor in City Planning from UC Berkeley. He was driven into transportation partially by his parents' passion for road cycling, his father's passion for the railroads, and an unquenchable curiosity about the constructed world. He has extensively studied urbanism and land use planning, starting his career working on railroad infrastructure projects for Metrolink, Union Pacific Railroad, BNSF Railway, and various industrial clients and real estate developers. In his free time, he travels extensively, often employing his electric skateboard, electric scooter, and of course plenty of trains and bikes.
