III:  MODERN BICYCLE DRIVETRAINS & GEARING YOUR BICYCLE 

 Join club member Bob McHenry for an informative presentation about innovations in bicycle drivetrains (i.e.—cranksets, chains, and cassettes) and options for gearing your bicycle.  Just knowing your chainring and cassette sizes does not tell the whole story of your bicycle’s gearing.  Learn how to calculate your gears in “gear inches” and visualize your shifting pattern on paper using online tools.  This will help you understand the possibilities and limitations of your current and future drivetrains.  We will also discuss road vs. gravel vs. mountain bike drivetrains and gearing.  And learn why you should consider Shimano Di2 electronic or SRAM AXS wireless shifting systems for your next bicycle!
