Bill Sellin's Health Incident During BCI Ride

Note: Please click the title here to leave a note for Bill. He’d love to hear from you!

During the ride on Tuesday, May 26 Bill had a fainting episode on the side of the road. Emergency responders rushed him to Irvine Hoag Hospital and he underwent emergency surgery to stop internal abdominal bleeding related to his recent gallbladder surgery. His repeated passing out on the side of the road while waiting for the ambulance is very concerning.

Many thanks to those who assisted him, Elliot Gordon, Tim and Anna McGahan, Lothar Jeromin, Richard Vallens, Frank Conner, and any others not listed here. Your quick thinking to call for medical help may have saved his life.

Today (May 28th), Bill is currently back in surgery to try to find another small bleed and to clear out the blood that has been coagulating in his abdomen and causing him a lot of pain. Hopefully this will put him on the road to recovery.

Please recognize that it’s often difficult to know how injured or sick we are or another person is. If you have opinions about whether a person should - or shouldn’t have been exerting themselves, please keep your thoughts to yourself. Bill had the good sense to stop as soon as he felt he was “off" and for that, he should be commended.

Let’s ride the positivity train and keep Bill in our thoughts.
