We have some very sad news to announce that Laurie Ostrow has passed away. Laurie fought a hard battle against pancreatic cancer for the last few years.

Laurie joined on March 3, 2003, becoming BCI #3378. She volunteered on the Board of Directors in multiple years: 2009 as Vice President, 2010 & 2012 as President, and in 2013 as Director of Membership.
By “taking a pull” on the board, Laurie touched the lives and interacted with many people: On the 2009 and 2010 boards, it was Will Decker, Tommie Kozlov, Monica McCarthy, Bill Clark, Rhonda Larson, David Marino, Mary Uffelman, Ken Johnson and Ron Hata. In 2011, it was Mike Brooks, Ann Gayton, Steve Davis, and Dov Lazarus. Marc Urias, Randy Profeta, Rich McCarthy, Debbie Coven, Joyce Jack, Kim Gerrard, Ramona Dalton, and Bob McHenry worked with Laurie on the 2013 board.

Laurie loved being involved with BCI. She and Monica McCarthy came up with the Orange County Bike Rally, a combined event with Orange County Wheelmen and other clubs that went on for several years. Her signature remote ride was out to her Dad’s home in Riverside, where he had an orchard on his property. She also created the Halloween costume ride.

Besides riding, Laurie was very involved with her family and loved to hike.

Laurie is survived by her mother, father, 4 sisters, 4 sons, and 2 grandchildren with another grandchild due in May.
