Marsha's Doo Dah New Year's Day Ride
by Marsha Ahern

January 1 2003– An energetic group of about 30 headed out of Deerfield Park New Year's morning. We took the Los Aliso Trail down to Alicia, cut through the Laguna Niguel Regional park past the peaceful fishing lake and over to Crown Valley Parkway, riding down to Camino Del Avion to a bike trail along side a golf course and out to Salt Creek Beach at the Ritz Carlton.

From there we braked hard down Cove Street into Dana Point Harbor then over to Doheny Beach and using the San Juan Creek trail we reached our lunch destination of San Juan Capistrano for a delicious lunch at The Depot.

After relaxing, we struggled back onto our bikes and headed up Camino Capistrano, thru the Amtrak Station and over to Cabot/La Paz and Muirlands to the park finishing about 2:30 p.m.

The day provided beautiful blue skies, vivid blue ocean and natural scenery along the bike trails in the 45-mile round trip. Many of us were decked out in our new BCI jerseys and we looked great on the road! What a fantastic way to bring in 2003!
