News & General Discussion Campagnolo Record 10 bottom bracket disassemblyview 2013-09-30 I have a used Campagnolo record 10 bottom bracket and from the feel of how it turns, I think all it needs is some fresh grease in the cartridge bearings. The design allow access to the bearing on one end of the spindle, but the bearing on the other end of the spindle is covered by a threaded aluminum cap attached to a carbon fiber sleeve that covers the bearing and doesn't seem to come off the spindle assembly – it isn't obvious how the cap might be removed to get access to the bearing. I don't want to damage the bottom bracket, so I thought I would ask and see if anyone has experience in disassembling this bottom bracket, (or knows whether it can be disassembled), at least enough to re-grease both bearings.
Crashes we can learn from! choice of crash into a cyclist or crash down the pathview 2013-07-19 In March of this year, I was doing a training ride with a bunch of people near Queen Mary and the bike path at Long Beach. This is my second set of 15 mile ride after doing about 25 miles of speedy ride an hour prior. Anyway, I was going 20mph when a recreational rider was weaving toward my line on the 2-way bike path. I had a split second choice of either crashing into this rider or veer right and go off the bike path. I made the mistake of going off the path, and hit an utility box. Now I have a metal plate on my left shoulder because my bones were pushed inward by 90 degrees and fractured. I was out for about 4 month and still not fully recovered.
While talking to my doctor (a fellow cyclist) he said that if I had crashed into that cyclist, my injury would have been much less severe. Granted that I'll be bruised and my bike would have been damaged, these are easily healed or repaired. Of course, for me and for most people, crashing into people is just something we don't intuitively want to do.
