I was wondering if someone could help me out on a route.

I sometimes ride from Yorba Linda down thru Santiago Canyon to El Toro Rd and finally Left on Laguna Canyon Rd. to Laguna beach. One big problem is that you have to ride under the 5 freeway, which can be tricky.

I have noticed there is a bike trail right past Cook's Corner. Would it be possible to take this trail "somewhere" and get off "somewhere" and still take me over to Laguna Canyon Rd?? Looking at a map, it seems that maybe this trail might have an exit on Moulton Pkwy which would take me to Aliso Creek Rd then back to El Toro Rd.

Is this a decent route to try?? Is it even possible??

Thanks

Hi,

Yes,you can pick up that bike trail just past Cooks Corner and it will take you all of the way to Paseo De Valencia. However please be very carefull after crossing Muirlands as the trail will cross through the creekbed on a metal plate with usually is covered in slippery moss.

Once you exit on Paseo De Valencia you can turn right on Laguna Hills and go down to Moulton. From there you have a number of options to get over to Laguna Cyn (via El Toro).

Bike travel along PCH through South Laguna can be very dicey and dangerous.

Let me know if you want a route written for you and I will write one.

All true; Enjoy Old El Toro Road just past Cooks Corner;
It will take you UNDER Portola,
Under El Toro to the East side,
Under Trabuco,
Under Jeronimo,
Under Muirlands -
then indeed watch for the steel plates & glass in the park,
but it goes under Los Alisos & under the I-5.

At Valencia you can head West back to your regular El Toro route,

If the trail gets all the way to South Laguna you would be able to go East at Paseo de Valencia, Turn Right at Laguna Hills Road
Left on Moulton & then pick up the Aliso Creek trail just after the bridge or at Indian Hill Lane -
It runs through Laguna Niguel under the Toll Road, under Pacific Park, (follows creek bed just West of Alicia Parkway) at least as far as Aliso Creek and Alicia.
Eventually it may pop out at the Aliso Beach in South Laguna... but I do not know if that is all open, or if open, if it is paved...Does anyone know if you can get out at PCH on teh Aliso Creek trails through Aliso Woods Wilderness Park - or if so, can a road bike manage the dirt path or is it paved? I may have to do some exploring one of these days!
